Election Day – South Africa’s employers take note

Election Day declared a public holiday for local government elections– employers take note

It is official – Monday, 1 November 2021 has been declared a national public holiday in South Africa by the country’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa.

The President applied the terms of Section 2A of the Public Holidays Act of 1994 to declare the holiday to mark and facilitate the date for local government elections.

It is very important that employers who make use of leave calendars on their payroll systems update their calendar.
