It’s that time of the year again – when it’s difficult to stay focused and productive. After a busy year all we want to do is plan our festive period, and just think about relaxing with our family and friends and having a good time.
But before we put our feet up, we need to stay focused at work to ensure we don’t drop the ball. Here are a few tips.
Follow your usual routine
This will help with any distractions you may face during the day. Sticking to the same pattern and rhythm makes it easier to get the job done.
Make a list
This is second nature for many in the workplace, but sometimes when your tasks become a habit, you tend to take list-making for granted. Having a list will ensure you don’t forget or overlook tasks.
Focus on one thing at a time
When you are busy juggling many tasks and deadlines, this can cause you to miss a task or drop the ball. Doing one task at a time and completing it will give you a sense of pride and push you to complete the next.
Take five-minute breaks
Fresh air or time out to rest your eyes off screen time will benefit your productivity (online shopping does not count 😊).
Keep a healthy snack at your desk
When you need an energy pick-me-up, reach for something non-sugar. There will be much indulgence during the festive season, so it’s better to snack on something fresh and healthy rather than a chocolate. This will eliminate the sugar high and subsequent crash later.
As tempting as it may be to mentally check out before the holidays, following these simple strategies will not only help you avoid dropping the ball at work but also allow you to fully enjoy the festive season with a sense of accomplishment and peace of mind. Happy holidays!
