COIDA SCHEDULE 4 COMPENSATION AND MONTHLY PENSIONS
It is important that employers note the following:
Amendment of Schedule 4 and monthly pensions under the COID Act
On 2 April 2026 the Department of Employment and Labour published Government Gazette 54458 Notice No. 7349 of 2026, in which the Minister of Employment and Labour announced updates to the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases (COID) Act:
- From 1 April 2026, in terms of Section 55, new compensation rates (Schedule 4) will apply to workplace accidents and occupational diseases diagnosed on or after 1 April 2026.
- From 1 April 2026, in terms of Section 57(1), monthly pensions payable under Section 49(4) (for permanent disablement) and Sections 54(1)(a), (b), (c) and (d) (for compensation in the event of an employee’s death) will increase for workers injured or diagnosed before 31 March 2026. Additionally, the Constant Attendance Allowance will also increase.
Schedule 4 is amended as follows:
