MARCH 2026 – SOUTH AFRICA
COID ROE TEMPORARY SYSTEM SHUTDOWN
It is important that employers note the following:
Temporary COID ROE system shutdown and submission period
The Department of Employment and Labour issued an official notice on 16 March 2026 confirming that the Compensation Fund’s (CF) Return of Earnings (ROE) online system (including internal SAP ECC for employer registration and employer assessment modules) will undergo a temporary shutdown.
Shutdown period:
From: 19 March 2026 at 00h00
To: 31 March 2026 at 00h00
This shutdown is required to complete preparatory actions for the 2025 ROE season, which will run from 1 April 2026 to 30 June 2026.
Services affected during the shutdown:
During this period, employers will not be able to:
- Register as employers (including CIPC BizPortal registrations)
- Submit online or manual ROE declarations
- Be cleared if flagged for audit or have assessment revision requests processed
- Apply for assessment instalment arrangements
Services not affected:
The following services will remain fully operational:
- CompEasy – claim processing system
- Letters of Good Standing can still be generated
- Payments may still be made using the employer’s correct CF registration number
Employers are encouraged to submit ROE declarations early once the system reopens on 1 April 2026, as system traffic typically increases closer to the submission deadline.
